History The BestforBusiness site was created in 2003 by Business Insight as part of the completion of the European Union funded project “Interall”. This project aimed to provide free business information to all West Midland Library Authorities, both physically and electronically. We took over the maintenance of the site when the project ended. Aims Business Insight is the most comprehensive business information service in Europe, serving Birmingham since 1919, while operating on a UK basis for its fee services. BestforBusiness enables us to deliver services that promote our mission of • providing free business information for all, • supporting and inspiring enterprise, • creation of new businesses and economic vitality • encouraging self employment and helping individuals to prosper Ethics/Figures In order to preserve our reputation for impartial, unbiased information aimed at providing the customer with the best free information we can find we accept no commercial advertising for the site. BestforBusiness averages 1.35 million users each year and was rated by the Guardian amongst the top ten business sites in the UK. Support We use no Birmingham City Council (our employers) funding for the site and it is maintained daily by volunteers at minimal costs, met by our partners and sponsors. We are grateful for the support we receive and welcome any relationships either financial, in kind or promotional that advance the aims of our portal.
