Business Insight welcomes project partnerships and has extensive experience having managed and delivered over 20 projects itself, listed here in reverse chronological order, in recent years.

LIBRARIES MEAN BUSINESS (2006/2007)
Neighbourhood Renewal Fund

To establish over six months "start a business" information points across the Yardley area of Birmingham using local libraries. Supporting them with resources, workshops and business advisers to create a permanent facility that helps generate an income for the local community.

START-UPS (2006/2007)
Business Link

To provide weekly workshops to help people become business ready and provide a £1000 support package to deliver 110 new businesses, combined with resources and advice.

BARCLAYS WORKSHOPS (2006)
Barclays Bank

To provide weekly workshops on early business ideas and pre start up planning that are open to all.

MUSLIM WRITERS (2006-7)

To provide a Writer’s Gateway service allied to www.publishingbirmingham.com to enable writers from the Muslim community to be published through support services, then expanding to all writers as part of an exit strategy and permanent facility.

MUSIC BUSINESS (2006-07)

To support bands to produce a commercial product that is available in the shops and help them make it in the music business. This will become a permanent service as part of the exit strategy.

ART WITH A PURPOSE (3) (2006-7)

Three LSC projects, Train the Trainer, Flying Start and Train the Artist to help 110 artists hone their marketability, commissioning, business skills and gain accreditations.

TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION CENTRE (2006)

Partnership to assist 300 media businesses and improve their business and diversification skills through short course programmes.

Helping 40 designer makers gain commissions and develop their business skills through business support, courses and showcasing.

Providing as many new pathways into creative industries as the team can discover, with best of these retained for a permanent service. Over 400 new businesses established and exciting spin offs including international record sales, Local Shorts film club, new art showcases, and much more. 

E-MAIL COLLEGE (2005)

An innovative web site that delivers free business courses to all by email and encourage reluctant learners. A permanent service with 2,160 graduates in the first twelve months and the resources pages were accessed by 83,000 users.

CREATIVE CITY (2004-07)

Content provider/adviser for the five Creative City web sites on business information, signposting and music services.

BITE SIZE (2004)
Learning and SKills Council

Year long programme of business and other seminars to attract non learners, low skilled and specific social inclusion groups helping over 6000 people. This is now a permanent service as part of Business Insight's work through “Get that Job” and “Business Bites.”

European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (x) 4 (2003-05)

Four projects over two years all providing thirty hours business support to 106 new creative companies that created over 50 new businesses, eighty new jobs and with all companies improving their turnover and profits.

CREATION ZONE (2003-04)
Advantage West Midlands/Museums, Libraries and Archives Council

Provided business support for jewellery designers in Birmingham including a web site of inspiration via library image collections. A showcasing facility was also included and a range of services that assisted over 100 companies.

Merging of the intellectual property and business support services to create a new entity delivering innovation for SME’s, support for inventors, protecting ideas and developing businesses and individuals in the creative industries. An ever growing permanent service for Birmingham.

KNOWLEDGE SUPPORT FOR BUSINESS (KSB) (2002-03)
European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)

Provided unlimited business support for one year to 80 creative companies to help them develop new skills, grow and find new markets. This created sixty new jobs and all companies increased their profits and their markets.

Start a Business Service (2002)
Innovation Fund

41 start a business information points set up in every community in Birmingham including Winson Green Prison, providing access to online services, books, leaflets, fact sheets and other support. This is now a permanent service.

INTER-ALL (2000-3)
(European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Funded Project)

A partnership with twelve West Midlands Authorities to establish a regional business information network with Business Insight as the hub dealing with over one million enquiries. The work lives on through www.bestforbusiness.com and Business Insight’s outsourcing and online services across the West Midlands/UK.

FABRIC (2000-2001)
(European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Funded Project) 

Delivered an information centre project for the textile industry in the West Midlands that created 40 jobs and safeguarded 100 as well as delivering business support through seminars and coaching. Greatly exceeded targets set by the ERDF.

BIRMINGHAM BUSINESS INFORMATION AND INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY SERVICES (BBIPS) (1997-2001)
(European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Funded Project)

Business Insight was created from the old Business Library by this project to provide business and Intellectual Property support to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in Birmingham.
